When 12 handpan players from Berlin, who hardly knew each other before, met at HONA 2022 (Handpan Music Gathering on Naxos) on the beautiful island of Naxos in Greece, the idea was born to create a monthly meetup in Berlin. We wanted to create a space where handpan enthusiasts from Berlin can share their music and get to know each other. A place to jam together, join with other instruments or simply sing along. Therefore the monthly handpan meetups in Berlin were born, where the community meets up regularly. At the meetups it became clear that there is an urge to create a bigger event to bring together Berlin talents and artists, makers and handpan lovers from other parts of Germany and even Europe as well. Over time, the idea was born to found an association in order to be able to develop and organize further more events such as the Pangonia Handpan Festival. This idea led to the founding of the association PANTIOPA e.V. - Verein zur Förderung der Handpanmusik in 2023.
Our Vision
We are a passionate Berlin community of open-minded handpan players and makers. Open to all kinds of new encounters and experiences, we hold the beautiful vision of creating a space for meeting and exchanging our love for handpan. Our intention is to come together with open hearts and express our mindful connection to this unique metallic instrument in whatever way feels most authentic for each of us: it is about being sensitive to the sound, emotion and energy it carries. It is about being sensitive and helpful to each other, being a community. We invite anyone who has similar feelings about the handpan to come and be part of this conscious circle.
- making music together with handpans and other instruments,
- deepening the knowledge around the handpan
- the exchange between musicians, players, manufacturers and other interested parties
- the public perception of the handpan

The board of PANTOPIA e.V. currently consists of Robert Hörning, Josef Langanki, Caroline Lambrecht, Otto Hans-Martin Lutz, Jonas Gebauer and Julia Surba.

If you want to support our work you are invited to become a member of our association.
As a member of the association, you can take part in activities such as workshops, jam sessions and
other meetings. You can also be part of the decision making and shape the way we do our activities. You
can also
contribute your own project ideas at any time and help develop PANTOPIA e.V. further. If you like, you
can
also support us with our biggest effort each year: The organization of the Pangonia Festival.
